Herbal Syrup Making
An herbal
syrup is 1 part alcoholic
extract (
tincture)
of an herb mixed with
2 parts honey, sugar or corn
syrup. The purpose is to make
less palatable herbal remedies
a bit easier to take.
How to make an herbal
syrup!
To make your own, place
enough of the alcoholic
herbal extract (tincture)
in a canning jar to fill it 1/3
full. Add enough honey or corn
syrup to the herb extract to
fill the jar completely. Stir
the mixture and transfer it to
dark glass containers with
non-metallic lids or
stoppers. The shelf life is
not more than two years when
properly stored. 1 tbs. of
syrup is now equal to 1 tsp.
of the original
tincture.
